SEPTEMBER is near

Well Magazine geeks September is nearly here. Its your bible month of super fat magazines to pour over and dog tag....cover in coffee and kick around at the bottom of your toilet for the rest of the year. The covers have just been released O/S and there are a few hit and misses I'd say.

UK Elle have chosen Emily Blunt for their supermag cover shot. This shot instantly screams 'get this piece of hair out of my mouth.' Matthias Vriens-McGrath Photographed The devil wears Prada actress in Valentino lace. Its an incredibly seductive shoot but all i can hear is my old Boss, Paul Divitaris screaming...."Lyndal, theres hair in her eyes!". Fair enough if it was I-D Magazine?

Vanity Fair have opted for the one and only Lady Gaga as their cover girl. Nick Knight shot the singer/all round posser and i think its pretty great.

It's a bit..... Lady Gaga all loved up at Woodstock, washed over in an albino, disney Little Mermaid type shoot.

Her middle part is really cool along with her fleshy nail colour. I wonder how many people will take this into their salon and request "Gaga Ice Blonde?" I know i will........

Fucking cool.

I don't love it enough to dig out my Big Day Out purchase of 1998.........leather dog collar.

But i do love it enough to use rude words and wanna draw eyeliner across my face.

This is from the August edition of Numero. Magdalena Frackowiak under studio lights and the hair is amazing. Loose, cool and free of detail, these looks rule. Brules rules?

The following is something that pisses me off about our industry. If your not up for a preeachy preach, perhaps skip this entry.

Chefs don't slag off other restaurants.

Fashion Designer don't slag off other designs.

Then why is it Hairdressers have the nasty habit of slagging off other hairdressers and salons?

Perhaps its an insecurity surrounding the level of work they can produce, or is it just the culture of the salon they work in? Whatever the case, it needs to stop......and i guess it needs to filter down from the top.

Yes, i hate many things....bad hairs on my top 3 shit list. But there is a difference between constructively deciding whether something is not your flavour flav and turning your nose up ignorantly.

A small step in changing the culture of hairdressing would be to disregard WHO or WHERE your clients last service was conducted....just focus on what your able to do for them today.

Hairdressers get such a bad rap as suburban, gum chewing, gossiping school leavers.

Lets help change this attitude by educating your fellow peers about positive attitudes at industry events and locking your lips about your clients previous services(even if it looks like a rat has chewed their hair off).

Believe it or not Australia's Hairdressing Industry is highly regarded world wide..............tall poppy syndrome aint pretty boys and girls.

Achieving a seamless, sleek and sharfin free ponytail is a lot harder than it looks. Back-combing, braiding and all those 'organic... rough as' hair ups are sooo simple.

The best way to achieve a sleek ponytail with a specific side part is to fill a tint bowl with KY jelly, dampen the hair and begin applying it layer by layer, using a brush and comb, through the hair till it is completely covered EVENLY.

KY has an amazing shine and doesn't stiffen, no pun intended, as quickly as gel. Its a little embarrassing buying three tubes at once from the chemist, but well worth the results.
